Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement LA1
Removal Procedure
- Remove the drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.
- Disconnect the pressure hose from the power
steering pump.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to
Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement
.
- Place the drain pan under the power steering pump and the power steering
gear.
- For front wheel drive vehicles, remove
the pipe retainer.
- For all wheel drive vehicles, disconnect the wiring harness from the pipe
rear clip stud.
- For all wheel drive vehicles, remove the
pipe rear clip stud.
- Disconnect the pressure hose from the steering gear.
- Disconnect the pressure hose from the hose retainer.
- Position the pressure hose lower portion into the right wheel opening.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the pressure hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the pressure hose into place.
- Connect the pressure hose into the retaining
bracket.
- Install the pressure hose to the steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the pressure hose filling to 27 N·m
(20 lb ft).
- Install the retainer stud to the pipe rear
clip, if applicable.
- Connect the wiring harness to the rear clip stud.
- With front wheel drive vehicles, install
the pipe retainer.
- Install the right side splash panel.
- Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the pressure hose to the pump.
Tighten
Tighten the pressure hose fitting to 27 N·m
(20 lb ft).
- Install the drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement LY7
Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering pressure pipe/hose nut from
the power steering reservoir mounting stud.
- Remove the power steering pressure pipe/hose from the power steering reservoir
mounting stud.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the front right tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Place a drain pan under the power steering pump and the power steering
gear.
- Disconnect the pressure hose from the steering gear.
- Disconnect the pressure hose from the hose retainer.
- Disconnect the pressure hose fitting from the power steering pump.
- Remove the pressure hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the pressure hose into the vehicle.
- Connect the pressure hose fitting to the power steering pump. HAND TIGHTEN
ONLY.
- Connect the pressure hose to the hose retainer.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Connect the pressure hose from the steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the pressure hose fitting to the steering
gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Remove the drain pan under the power steering pump and the power steering
gear.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the power steering pressure pipe/hose to the power steering reservoir
mounting stud.
- Install the power steering pressure pipe/hose nut to the power steering
reservoir mounting stud.
Tighten
Tighten the pressure pipe/hose nut to 25 N·m
(19 lb ft).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Connect the pressure hose to the power steering pump.
Tighten
Tighten the pressure hose fitting to the pump to
27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Install the right side engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Install the front right tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the power steering reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to
Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid
.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to
Power Steering Fluid Leaks
.
