Power Door Locks Inoperative Aztek

Test Description

The number below refers to the step number on the diagnostic table.

  1. This step verifies that all of the power door locks, including the endgate locks, are inoperative.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Verify the power door locks inoperative fault is present.

Do the power door locks operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring System

Are all of the power door locks inoperative, including the endgate locks?

Go to Step 4

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Door Unlock Switch parameter in the body control module (BCM) data list.
  4. Activate a door lock switch to UNLOCK.

Does the scan tool display change from Inactive to Active?

Test the appropriate door lock actuator unlock control circuit for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the driver door lock actuator the inoperative actuator?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, command the door lock On and Off.

Do the door lock actuators activate?

Test the appropriate door lock switch ground circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Replace the power door locks fuse.
  2. Disconnect all of the door lock actuators.
  3. Activate a door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions.

Does the power door locks fuse open?

Test the body control module (BCM) ground circuit at the center console fuse block harness connector C2 for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the door lock actuator unlock control, the driver door lock actuator unlock control, and the door lock actuator lock control circuits for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Connect the door lock actuators, one at a time.
  2. Activate a door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions after each door lock actuator is connected.

Does the power door locks fuse open after any of the door lock actuators is connected?
