Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 735878  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the air compressor filter from the underbody rail.
  3. Disconnect the air tube from the air dryer.
  4. Disconnect the air compressor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the compressor bracket bolts.
  6. Remove the compressor bracket nuts.
  7. Remove the air compressor and bracket from the vehicle.

  9. Remove the air dryer, if required. Refer to Automatic Level Control Air Dryer Replacement .
  10. Remove the air compressor bolts.
  11. Remove the air compressor from the air compressor bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 227997  Size: SH
  1. Install the air compressor to the air compressor bracket.
  2. Install the air compressor bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the air compressor bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  4. Install the air dryer, if removed. Refer to Automatic Level Control Air Dryer Replacement .

  6. Install the air compressor and bracket to the underbody rail.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the air compressor bracket nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the air compressor bracket nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the air compressor bracket bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the air compressor bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  12. Connect the air compressor electrical connector.
  13. Connect the air tube to the air dryer.
  14. Install the air compressor filter to the underbody rail.
  15. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
