Windshield wiper blades should be inspected at least twice a year for wear or
cracking. See "Wiper Blade Check" under
Part B: Owner Checks and Services
for more information.
Replacement blades come in different types and are removed in different ways.
For proper type and length, see
Maintenance Replacement Parts
.
Here's how to remove the wiper blades:
- Turn the wipers on to the lowest intermittent setting.
- Turn off the ignition while the wipers are at the outer positions of the
wipe pattern. The blades are more accessible for removal/replacement while in this
position.
- Pull the windshield wiper arm away from the windshield or backglass.
- While holding the wiper arm away from the glass, push the release clip
from under the blade.
- Push the release clip, located at the connecting point of the blade and the
arm, in the up position. Then, pull the blade assembly down toward the glass to remove
it from the wiper arm.
- Push the new wiper blade securely on the wiper arm until you hear the
release clip "click" into place.
