Removal Procedure
- Open the liftgate.
- Open the endgate.
- Remove the endgate trim panel. Refer to Endgate Trim Panel Replacement .
- Remove the water deflector. Refer to Endgate Water Deflector Replacement .
- Disconnect the endgate latch rod from the bellcrank. Refer to Endgate Locking Rod Bellcrank Replacement .
- Remove the endgate latch bolts from the endgate latch.
- Slide the endgate latch forward and disconnect the end gate latch rod from the endgate.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the endgate latch.
- Remove the endgate latch from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Align the endgate latch to the end gate.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the endgate latch.
- Connect the endgate latch rod to the endgate latch.
- Slide the endgate latch into the end gate.
- Install the endgate latch bolts.
- Install the endgate latch rod to the bellcrank. Refer to Endgate Locking Rod Bellcrank Replacement .
- Install the water deflector. Refer to Endgate Water Deflector Replacement .
- Install the endgate trim panel. Refer to Endgate Trim Panel Replacement .
- Close the endgate.
- Close the liftgate.
Notice: Do not engage the child safety switch on the endgate latch. If the endgate is closed with the child safety switch engaged, the endgate will not open unless you remove the endgate trim panel. Removal will damage the endgate trim panel.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the endgate latch bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
