Removal Procedure
  1. Open the endgate.

    2. Object Number: 617942 Size: SH
  2. Remove the endgate torque rod bolt from the torque rod bracket.

    3. Object Number: 617947 Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts from the endgate torque rod to the endgate.

    4. Object Number: 621859 Size: SH
  4. Remove the endgate torque rod from the endgate.

    5. Object Number: 621867 Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolts from the endgate torque rod bracket to the rear body panel.

    6. Object Number: 621868 Size: SH
  6. Remove the torque rod bracket from the rear body panel.

    7. Object Number: 621860 Size: SH
  7. Remove the torque rod insulator from the endgate using a small flat-bladed tool.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 621860 Size: SH
  1. Install the torque rod insulator to the endgate, pressing into place until fully seated.

    2. Object Number: 621868 Size: SH
  2. Position the torque rod bracket to the rear body panel.

    3. Object Number: 621867 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts to the torque rod bracket.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the torque rod bracket bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Position the torque rod to the torque rod bracket .

    5. Object Number: 617942 Size: SH
  5. Install the endgate torque rod bolt to the torque rod bracket.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the endgate torque rod bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 621859 Size: SH
  6. Position the endgate torque rod to the endgate.

    7. Object Number: 617947 Size: SH
  7. Install the bolts to the endgate torque rod to the endgate.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the torque rod to endgate bolts to 33 N·m (28 lb ft).

  8. Close the endgate.
