J 25070 Heat Gun

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 621014  Size: SH
  1. Open the endgate.
  2. Remove the push-in retainers from the inside rear edge of the rear quarter panel molding.

  3. Object Number: 621047  Size: SH
  4. Use a heat gun J 25070 .

  5. Object Number: 621049  Size: SH

    Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing an emblem/name plate.

  6. Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to remove the upper edge of the rear quarter panel molding from the surface.

  7. Object Number: 621015  Size: SH
  8. Pull the upper edge of the rear quarter panel molding out, to release the retainers.
  9. Remove the rear quarter panel molding from the door.

  10. Object Number: 618023  Size: SH
  11. Remove the push-in retainer nuts from the D-pillar, if required.

  12. Object Number: 321645  Size: SH
  13. Remove all adhesive from the rear door body panel using 3M™ ScotchBrite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  14. Clean the rear door panel surface using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha and allow to air dry.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 618023  Size: SH
  1. Install the push-in retainer nuts to the D-pillar, if required.

  2. Object Number: 621015  Size: SH
  3. Use a heat gun J 25070 .
  4. Important: Do not touch the adhesive backing on the molding.

  5. Remove the protective liner from the back side of the rear quarter panel molding.
  6. Position the rear quarter panel molding to the rear quarter panel.
  7. Install rear quarter panel molding starting at the D-pillar and working forward and locating the push-in retainers to the rear quarter panel, pressing rear quarter panel molding into place until fully seated.
  8. Install the upper edge of the rear quarter panel molding by applying pressure to the entire length of the molding starting at the rear and working forward in order to ensure a maximum bond to the rear quarter panel.

  9. Object Number: 621014  Size: SH
  10. Install the push-in retainers to the inside rear edge of the rear quarter panel molding.
  11. Close the endgate.
