The door lock switch provides a direct ground input to the body control module (BCM) when the door lock switch is activated to the unlock position. This input is used by the BCM to control the door locks.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC B3272 Door Unlock Switch Circuit
The BCM detects a short to ground in the driver door lock switch signal circuit for greater than 60 seconds.
• | The BCM stores DTC B3272 in memory. |
• | The BCM will disable the input and all operations of the input until the fault no longer exists. |
• | The BCM no longer detects the short to ground in the driver door lock switch signal circuit for greater than 60 seconds. |
• | 100 consecutive ignition cycles have been recorded without the DTC being detected. |
• | If the DTC B3272 is a history DTC, the fault may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems. |
• | The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction to occur: |
- | An intermittent short to ground in the driver door lock switch lock signal circuit |
- | The door lock switch is intermittently shorted to ground internally |
- | The BCM is intermittently shorted to ground internally |
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
Determines whether the DTC is current or intermittent.
Determines whether the driver door lock switch lock signal circuit or a door lock switch is shorted to ground.
