ANALYSIS OF RETURNED PARTIAL GEARS INDICATE THAT SOME CONTAINED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUIDS SUCH AS DEXRON-II ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH STEERING SYSTEM SEALS. USAGE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THE STEERING SYSTEM CAN REDUCE SEAL LIFE.
USE ONLY POWER STEERING FLUID THAT MEETS REQUIREMENTS OF GM SPEC. 9985010 SUCH AS GMSPO PART NUMBERS 1050017 (QUART) AND 1052884 (PINT) IN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL SERVICE PERSONNEL ARE ADVISED. THIS INFORMATION IS CONTAINED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL AND SERVICE MANUALS. PARTS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FROM GMSPO.
