WINDOW DISENGAGES (MAY BE DISENGAGED FRONT CLIP)

WINDOWS DISENGAGING

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1986 AND SOME 1987 C AND H CARLINES -----------------

Incidents of door glasses falling down due to the front clip disengaging may be due to a mislocated front guide pin mounting hole. This will usually occur as the window is lowered from the full up position as the guide pin (clip) pivots and runs itself out of the channel. The hole location is 13.8 mm +/- O.8 mm from the front edge of the glass to the center line of the hole. This condition should be suspected anytime repeat door glass failures have occurred after all other repairs (Bulletin 86-2-181) have been tried and should be checked anytime a window guide pin is being replaced.

Use the most applicable labour operation from the Canadian Labour Time Guide.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
