COMPASS INOPERATIVE OR LOSS OF CALIBRATION

1989 BONNEVILLE COMPASS - DCS MESSAGE

TWO SEPARATE CONDITIONS ARE BEING ENCOUNTERED ON THE 1989 BONNEVILLE COMPASS. THESE TWO CONDITIONS ARE A RESULT OF TWO DIFFERENT COMPONENTS. TO ELIMINATE CONFUSION ON REPAIR PROCEDURES, FOLLOW THESE GENERAL RULES.

IF THE COMPASS REPEATEDLY LOOSES CALIBRATION, IT IS MOST LIKELY THE RESULT OF THE CALIBRATION MODULE UNDER THE PACKAGE SHELF.

IF THE COMPASS BLACKS OUT AND ALL CONNECTIONS ARE COMPLETE, THE COMPASS DISPLAY PANEL IS THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE.

SERVICE FOR EITHER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OR THE CALIBRATION MODULE IS HANDLED THROUGH AC-DELCO REPAIR STATIONS.

AS A RESULT OF INCREASED USAGE, SUPPLIES OF EXCHANGE UNITS MAY BE SHORT. DEALERSHIPS SHOULD VERIFY THAT AN EXCHANGE UNIT IS AVAILABLE BEFORE DISASSEMBLING A CUSTOMER'S VEHICLE.
