SUBJECT: SMU/SEC 6 ENGINE MECHANICAL-CRANKSHAFT MAIN BEARING, CONNECTING ROD (NEW BEARING)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985-1991 ALL CARS W/3.0, 3300, 3.8, 3800

The following revised bearing clearances should be used when servicing main bearings and connecting rod bearings on the engines listed above. Note that the clearances are the same for main and rod bearings.

CRANKSHAFT MAIN BEARINGS

Bearing to Journal Clearance 0.020 - 0.055 mm. (.0008 - .0022 in.)

CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS

Bearing to Journal Clearance 0.020 - 0.055 mm. (.0008 - .0022 in.)
