--------- Some 1992-93 Pontiac "H" models with C68 may experience a hissing noise from the in car sensor opening in the instrument panel.
----- The noise is generated by the aspirator for the in car sensor.
---------- The noise can be greatly reduced by installing a muffler in the aspirator hose.
1. Check for proper operation of the in car sensor aspirator and repair if required.
2. Remove the trim plate for the radio and HVAC control head.
3. Remove the radio. The aspirator hose should now be accessible.
4. Cut the hose where it is accessible, and install aspirator muffler P/N 1649040. The muffler is not directional. Be sure the hose is over the attachment barbs on the muffler.
5. Reinstall the radio.
6. Reinstall the trim plate.
7. Recheck the in car sensor aspirator for proper operation.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
