INFORMATION ON REVISED SCAVENGER OIL SCOOP

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO ADD MODEL YEARS AND MODELS.

SUBJECT: REVISED SCAVENGER OIL SCOOP

MODELS: 1991-94 CHEVROLET LUMINA 1992-94 CHEVROLET LUMINA APV 1991-94 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE, GRAND PRIX, TRANS SPORT 1991-94 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS CIERA, NINETY EIGHT, EIGHTY EIGHT, CUTLASS SUPREME 1992-94 OLDSMOBILE SILHOUETTE 1994 BUICK CENTURY 1991-94 BUICK PARK AVENUE, LESABRE, REGAL 1991-94 CADILLAC ELDORADO, DEVILLE 1994 CADILLAC CONCOURS 1991-94 CADILLAC SEVILLE 1991-92 OLDSMOBILE TORONADO

TRANSAXLES APPLICATIONS:

1994 HYDRA-MATIC 4T60-E (RP0 M13)

BULLETIN COVERS: (FIGURE 1 AND 2) EFFECTIVE SOP (START OF PRODUCTION) 1994 ALL HYDRA-MATIC 4T60-E TRANSAXLE CASES (3) DO NOT CONTAIN A REMOVABLE SCAVENGER, OIL SCOOP (BOTTOM PAN) (118). THE ELIMINATION OF THE REMOVABLE SCAVENGER, OIL SCOOP HAS ALSO ELIMINATED THE NEED FOR THE (2) TWO BOLTS, SCAVENGING OIL SCOOP TO CASE (M8 X 1.25 X 20.0 MM) (119). THE NEW SCAVENGER, OIL SCOOP (BOTTOM PAN) IS CAST IN THE TRANSAXLE CASE ELIMINATING THE NEED FOR THE PRIOR SCOOP.

NOTE: SOME 1994 CASES MAY HAVE BEEN DRILLED AND TAPED TO ACCOMMODATE BOLTS, SCAVENGING OIL SCOOP TO CASE (119). THESE TAPED HOLES ARE NON-FUNCTIONAL AND SHOULD BE IGNORED.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

WHEN REPLACING A 1991-93 TRANSAXLE WITH A REPLACEMENT 1994 CAST TRANSAXLE CASE (3), THE SCAVENGER, OIL SCOOP (BOTTOM PAN) (118) AND BOLTS, SCAVENGING OIL SCOOP TO CASE (119) MUST BE DISCARDED.

SERVICE MANUAL REFERENCE: REFER TO THE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE UNIT REPAIR (SECTION 7A-5B) IN THE APPROPRIATE SERVICE MANUAL WHENEVER SERVICE IS NECESSARY.
