SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON WATER INTRUSION INTO THE REAR COMPARTMENT WHEN OPENING THE REAR COMPARTMENT LID.
CONDITION MAY BE DUE TO WATER TRAPPED AROUND THE BACK UP LAMP ASSEMBLY WHICH RUNS INTO THE REAR COMPARTMENT WHEN THE REAR COMPARTMENT LID IS RAISED.
REPLACE THE BACK UP LAMP SEAL WITH A NEW DESIGNED SEAL, P/N 16520950.
1. REMOVE THE BACK UP LAMP ASSEMBLY. REFER TO BACK UP LAMPS IN SECTION 8B OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.
2. REMOVE BACK UP LAMP SEAL (1) FROM THE BACK UP LAMP (3) BY PULLING THE SEAL TOWARD THE BACK OF THE LAMP ASSEMBLY. (FIGURE 1).
3. CLEAN THE SEAL FLANGE AREA OF THE BACK UP LAMP.
DO NOT OVERLAP THE BACK UP LAMP SEAL OVER THE TOP OF THE BACK UP LAMP LENS. THE SEAL MUST BUTT UP TO THE REAR OF THE BACK UP LAMP LENS.
4. INSTALL NEW BACK UP LAMP SEAL (1) TO THE BACK UP LAMP (3) FLUSH WITH THE REAR EDGE OF THE BACK UP LENS (2) AND PRESS INTO PLACE. (FIGURE 1).
5. INSTALL THE BACK UP LAMP ASSEMBLY. REFER TO BACK UP LAMPS IN SECTION 8B OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.
