Removal Procedure
- Remove the following components:
- Remove the clamps (3) or connections at the gear.
- Remove the clamps (3) or connections at the pump.
- Remove the hoses (2,4).
Installation Procedure
- Install the hoses (2,4).
- Install the clamps (3) or connections at the gear.
- Install the clamps (3) or connections at the pump.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the following
components:
Tighten
• | Tighten the retainer (6) and the shield (8) mounting
bolts (7) to 8 N·m (71 lb in). |
• | Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose (4) to pump
to 27 N·m (20 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the hose clamp (3) at the pump to 1.7 N·m
(15 lb in). |
• | Tighten the power steering gear outlet (2) and the power
steering inlet hose (4) to steering gear, to 8 N·m (70 lb in). |
- Fill the system.
- Bleed the system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the system for leaks.
