SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE REAR COMPARTMENT LID WILL NOT CLOSE.
THIS CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY AN INNER PANEL DEFORMATION AROUND THE LATCH.
INSTALL REAR COMPARTMENT LID INNER PANEL (LATCH) REINFORCEMENT (P/N 25690546), AS FOLLOWS:
1. REMOVE REAR COMPARTMENT LID TRIM PUSH-IN RETAINERS AND REAR COMPARTMENT LID TRIM.
2. REMOVE REAR COMPARTMENT LID LATCH ASSEMBLY RETAINING BOLTS (2), (SEE FIGURE 1, ITEM 4).
3. CAREFULLY REMOVE REAR COMPARTMENT LID LATCH ASSEMBLY (SEE FIGURE 1, ITEM 3) AND PUSH-IN RETAINERS (2), (SEE FIGURE 1, ITEM 1) TOGETHER FROM REAR COMPARTMENT LID.
4. INSTALL REAR COMPARTMENT LID INNER PANEL (LATCH) REINFORCEMENT (SEE FIGURE 1, ITEM 2), BETWEEN THE REAR COMPARTMENT LID AND THE LID LATCH ASSEMBLY WITH THE CONTOURED EDGE POINTING UP AND THE BEVELED SIDE OUT (SEE FIGURE 1, ITEM 2).
- ENGAGE THE PUSH-IN RETAINERS (2) THROUGH THE TWO HOLES NEXT TO THE SQUARE HOLES OF THE INNER PANEL (LATCH) REINFORCEMENT.
- INSTALL REAR COMPARTMENT LID LATCH ASSEMBLY, INNER PANEL (LATCH) REINFORCEMENT AND PUSH-IN RETAINERS TOGETHER ONTO THE REAR COMPARTMENT LID.
5. INSTALL REAR COMPARTMENT LID LATCH ASSEMBLY RETAINING BOLTS (2). (SEE FIGURE 1, ITEM 4).
TIGHTEN
TIGHTEN LID LATCH ASSEMBLY RETAINING BOLTS TO 9 N.M (80 LB FT).
6. ADJUST LATCH ASSEMBLY AS NECESSARY.
7. INSTALL REAR COMPARTMENT LID TRIM AND PUSH-IN RETAINERS.
