Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the backup lamps.
  3. Disconnect the inoperative backup lamp bulb.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the backup lamp bulb feed circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the backup lamp bulb feed circuit and the backup lamp bulb ground circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Inspect for poor connections at the backup lamp bulb connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the inoperative backup lamp bulb.

Did you complete the replacement?

Test the backup lamp bulb feed circuit for high resistance or open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair the open in the reverse lamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
