Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect wiper/washer switch connector.
  3. Set the wiper switch to DELAY.
  4. Measure the resistance through wiper/washer switch connector from terminal A3 to terminal D3 with a DMM set to the Ohms scale.
  5. Move the wiper switch through the entire delay range.

Does the resistance vary within the specified range?

39 kohms to 680 kohms

Replace the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .

Did you complete the replacement?

  1. Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  3. Turn the ignition to ON.
  4. Set the wiper switch to HI.
  5. Measure the voltage from the wiper speed signal input circuit to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10.5-15.5 V

Repair the open in the wiper speed signal input circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wiper motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .
