Run the engine at idle speed.

Does the volt gauge indicate a normal charging condition?

10.5 to 16.2V

Visually inspect the fuel gauge.

Does the fuel gauge indicate a low fuel condition?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls 3.8L

Go to Step 4

Visually inspect the coolant temperature gauge.

Does the coolant temperature gauge indicate that the engine coolant is within the normal operating range?

88°C (190°F) to 104°C (220°F)

Go to Step 5

Go to Diagnostic System Check in Engine Cooling

Visually inspect the oil pressure gauge.

Does the oil pressure gauge indicate a low oil pressure condition?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls 3.8L

Go to Step 6

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
