Did You perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Close all doors.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Door Jamb Sw. input in the door module data list.

Does the scan tool display ON for any of the inputs?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the interior lamp switch to OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the overhead lamps output parameter in the rear integration module (RIM) outputs list.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Test the ground circuit of the courtesy lamp for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the door lock actuator that displayed ON.
  3. Turn on the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the door jamb sw. input in the door module data list.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Inspect for poor connections at the connector of the door lock actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the door lock actuator. Refer to Front Side Door Latch Replacement or Rear Side Door Latch Replacement in Doors.

Test the input circuit of the door lock actuator for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the connector of the suspect door module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the fog lamp switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the interior lamp switch parameter in the instrument panel module (IPM) w/CJ2 or the climate control panel (CCP) w/C67 data list.

Does the scan tool display ON?

Test the signal circuit of the interior lamp switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
