DEFINITION: Door locks do not operate from the door lock switch mounted on the inside of the driver or passenger door. This test assumes that all DTCs have been diagnosed.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Door Systems?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Door Systems

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Close all doors.
3. Observe the Driver ( or Passenger) Door Lock Sw. parameter in the Driver Door Module data list using the scan tool.
4. Activate the driver ( or passenger) door lock switch.
5. Observe the Driver (or Passenger) Door Lock SW. parameter using the scan tool.

Does the Driver (or Passenger) Door Lock Sw. parameter change state?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 3

1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect the door lock switch harness connector.
3. Install a 3 A fused jumper between door lock switch circuits and ground.
4. Observe the Driver (or Passenger) Door Lock SW. parameter using the scan tool.

Does the Driver (or Passenger) Door Lock Sw. parameter change state?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Test the door lock switch circuits for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 5

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the door lock switch harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 6

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the driver door switch assembly (passenger door module) harness connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 7

Replace the door lock switch. Refer to Door Lock Switch Replacement

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

1. Choose each door lock in the Door Lock Test application of the Output Control application of the Special Functions in the Driver Door Module data list using the scan tool.
2. Command the door locks to lock and unlock.

Do any door locks lock and unlock?

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the driver door module harness connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver door module. Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement Door Control Module Replacement

Did you complete the replacement?
