Removal Procedure
- Open the front door.
- Insert a small flat bladed tool between the door wire harness conduit (2) and the hinge pillar in order to depress and release the tab (3) on the door wiring harness connector.
- Disconnect the door wiring harness from the body wiring harness.
- Remove the door wire harness from the hinge pillar.
- Remove the door check link fasteners from the body.
- Remove the intermediate hinge fasteners (1) from both hinges.
- Lift the door to remove.
Installation Procedure
- Align the door hinge halves.
- Lower the door so the hinge halves mate together.
- Install the intermediate door hinge fasteners.
- Install the door check link. Refer to Door Check Link Replacement .
- Touch up any paint damage to the intermediate hinge fasteners with body color paint.
- Connect the door wire harness to the body wire harness.
- Snap the wire harness connectors into the hinge pillar.
- Check for proper door adjustment. Refer to Door Adjustment .
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important: Use Loctite® Blue GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent prior to the fastener installation.
Tighten
Tighten the intermediate front door hinge fasteners (1) to 24 N·m
(18 lb ft).
