Front Seat Lumbar Support Replacement Power

Removal Procedure

    Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the seat back trim cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .

  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  4. Use a suitable tool to release the lower lumbar assembly from the seat back frame retaining clips (1).

    5. Object Number: 522178 Size: SH
  5. Release the upper frame (2) from the retaining holes (1).
  6. Remove the lumbar assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 522178 Size: SH
  1. Install the lumbar assembly (2) into the upper seat back frame (1).

    2. Object Number: 522176 Size: SH
  2. Press the lower lumbar assembly into the retaining clips (1).
  3. Connect the electrical connectors.
  4. Install the seat back trim cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .
  5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Seat Belts.

Removal Procedure

    Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.

    2. Object Number: 683344 Size: SH
  2. Position the seat back to the full upright position.
  3. Position the seat cushion out of the way. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  4. Remove the lumbar support knob. Refer to Lumbar Support Knob Replacement .
  5. Remove the fasteners (3) securing the lumbar cable to the seat cushion frame.
  6. Note the routing location of the lumbar cable for reinstallation.

    7. Remove the lumbar cable from the seat cushion frame.

  7. Remove the seat back cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .
  8. Lift upward and outward on the cardboard panel in order to remove the panel from the seat back.

  9. Release the two retainers (1) at the bottom of the lumbar assembly.

  10. Pull downward on the lumbar assembly in order to release the lumbar from the seat back frame.
  11. Remove the lumbar assembly from the seat.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lumbar cable down through the seat back and under the seat cushion frame as noted during the removal procedure.
  2. Install the power lumbar assembly to the seat back frame. Ensure the top of the rods are installed into the nylon guides in the seat back frame

    3. Object Number: 746051 Size: SH
  3. Secure the power lumbar assembly by snapping the retainers (1) onto the bar at the bottom of the seat back frame.

    4. Object Number: 683367 Size: SH
  4. Install the inner cardboard panel to the seat back frame.

    5. Object Number: 683344 Size: SH
  5. Install the fasteners (3) in order to secure the lumbar support cable to the seat cushion frame.
  6. Install the manual lumbar support knob by snapping into place.
  7. Install the seat back cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement .
  8. Install the seat cushion. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
