Power Seat Does Not Recline w/o A45

  1. Probe the seat recline backward control circuit of the power seat switch with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.
  2. Operate the seat recline BACKWARD switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Probe the seat recline forward control circuit of the power seat switch with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.
  2. Operate the seat recline FORWARD switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the seat recline motor harness connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the recline forward control circuit of the recline motor and the recline backward control circuit of the recline motor.
  3. Operate the recline horizontal switch in the FORWARD and BACKWARD directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Seat Recline Forward parameter in the Memory Seat Module data list.
  4. Operate the seat recline horizontal switch in the FORWARD direction.

Does the Seat Recline Forward parameter change state?

Operate the seat recline horizontal switch in the BACKWARD direction.

Does the Seat Recline Backward parameter change state?

  1. Disconnect the seat recline motor harness connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the recline forward control circuit of the recline motor and the recline rearward control circuit of the recline motor.
  3. Operate the seat recline horizontal switch in the FORWARD and REARWARD directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

  1. Disconnect the power seat switch harness connector.
  2. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire from battery positive voltage (B+) to the seat recline forward signal circuit of the switch connector.

Does the Seat Recline Forward parameter change state?

  1. Disconnect the power seat switch harness connector.
  2. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire from battery positive voltage (B+) to the seat recline backward signal circuit of the switch connector.

Does the Seat Recline Backward parameter change state?

Test the seat recline forward motor control circuit between the memory seat module and the recline motor for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
