Subject: | Changes in GM Service Information for the 2000 Model Year |
Models: | 2000 All Passenger Cars and Trucks |
Beginning with the 2000 model year, all US dealerships will receive a complimentary paper Service Manual ONLY for new/major redesigned vehicles. This will include a preliminary Manual at the start of production and the final bound edition at the end of the model year, when the vehicle line is mature. Mainstream service information will continue to be sent via CD-ROM on an approximately monthly basis. For all other model year 2000 vehicles, paper Service Manuals will be available for purchase. Forms for purchasing paper Service Manuals will be sent to US dealerships as the Manuals are released.
GM service information on the Web is also rolling out at this time. This will be followed by a stand-alone version of Service Information (SI) 2000 that can be loaded directly to the hard drive of a PC or Server. Both of these SI products use web-based navigation tools and are extremely user friendly. These SI products will replace the current ESI navigation tool. The current tool was developed in 1993 and is no longer technically current.
