Subject: | Rear Side Door Window Outer Belt Sealing Strip Disengages (Install Rubber Strip) |
Models: | 2000 Pontiac Bonneville |
Built prior to VIN Breakpoint Y168741 |
Some customers may comment that the rear side door window outer belt sealing strip "pops up"/disengages when the door is closed with an excessive amount of force.
Install an 80 mm (3.1 in) long, 5 mm (13/64 in) wide, 3 mm (1/8 in) thick strip of rubber material such as 3M™Scotch Mount™ Double Coated Acrylic Foam Tape, P/N 06382, or equivalent, to the lower outside rear corner of the fixed glass on the rear side door and cut a 7 mm (9/32 in) wide strip from the aft end of the window outer belt lower sealing strip lip to just before the serrations.
Refer to the Doors sub-section of the Service Manual for the removal procedure.
• | If using the 3M™ Tape, P/N 06382, cut an 80 mm (3.1 in) long strip from the tape roll. |
• | Cut the strip in half lengthwise. |
• | Remove the red protective backing from one of the two halves and attach it to the gray side of the other half. |
• | Carefully position the "doubled" tape onto the fixed glass weatherstrip at the lower outside rear corner of the rear side door (2). |
Refer to the Doors sub-section of the Service Manual for the installation procedure.
