Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  4. Remove the antilock brake electrical connector.

  6. Remove the wheel bearing and hub retaining bolts from the control arm.
  7. Remove the wheel bearing and hub assembly from the control arm.
  8. Remove the brake shield from the control arm.
  9. Clean the control arm face and the bore before installing the wheel bearing and hub assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 155740  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the brake shield and the wheel bearing and hub assembly to the control arm with the retaining bolts. Be careful not to drop the hub and the bearing, as it could be damaged. Reconnect the ABS sensor.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel bearing and hub retaining bolts to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  3. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  4. Install the wheel and the tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
