1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch through all the switch positions.

Do the windshield wipers operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
2. Connect a test lamp between the accessory voltage circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 9

Connect a test lamp between the accessory voltage circuit and the ground circuit of the windshield wiper motor connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

1. Connect a test lamp between the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit and a good ground.
2. Activate the windshield washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

1. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.
2. Connect a test lamp between the accessory voltage circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Inspect for a poor connection at the windshield wiper motor connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a poor connection at the windshield wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the windshield wiper motor accessory voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the windshield wiper/washer switch accessory voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
