The windshield wiper/washer system consists of a wiper motor, a transmission, wiper arm and blade assemblies, a washer pump and a washer solvent level sensor mounted on a washer fluid reservoir, and a wiper/washer switch.
The pulse type windshield wiper/washer system includes an operating mode in which the wipers make single sweeps with an adjustable time interval between sweeps. The time interval is controlled by a solid state timer in the wiper motor cover. The duration of the delay interval is determined by the delay resistor in the wiper/washer switch.
Demand wash function is controlled by a printed circuit board in the wiper motor cover. The wiper motor also is equipped with radio frequency interference (RFI) suppression.
Washer Fluid Indicator
WASHER FLUID (with Systems Monitor)
The IPC illuminates the WASHER FLUID indicator when the following occurs:
| • | The IPC detects a low washer fluid condition (signal circuit is low) for greater than 30 seconds. The IPC sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning. |
| • | The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition cycle. The indicator illuminates for approximately 5 seconds. |
WASHER FLUID LOW - 25 (with DIC)
The IPC illuminates the WASHER FLUID LOW - 25 indicator in the DIC when the IPC detects a low washer fluid condition (signal circuit is low) for greater than 30 seconds. The IPC sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.
