J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle by the frame. Allow the control arms to hang free. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the front wheels and tires. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe from the exhaust manifold and from the intermediate exhaust hangers. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  4. Object Number: 155688  Size: SH
  5. Remove the left and right stabilizer link bolts.

  6. Object Number: 155689  Size: SH
  7. Remove the left and right stabilizer shaft brackets.

  8. Object Number: 643351  Size: SH
  9. Use the J 24319-B in order to remove the left tie rod end (1) from the steering knuckle (2).
  10. Turn the right strut completely to the left. Guide the stabilizer shaft out the right side of the vehicle in an upward direction.

  12. Remove the stabilizer shaft (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the stabilizer shaft (3) into position.

  2. Object Number: 155689  Size: SH
  3. Loosely install the following components:
  4. 2.1. The left and right stabilizer shaft insulators
    2.2. The brackets
    2.3. The bolts

  5. Loosely install the stabilizer link components.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the left tie rod end to the knuckle.
  8. Tighten

        • Tighten the bracket bolts to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).
        • Tighten the stabilizer link nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
        • Tighten the tie rod end to knuckle nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft) plus an additional 180 degrees.
  9. Install the exhaust manifold pipe to the manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  10. Install the front wheels and tires. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
