Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  4. Remove the inside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .

  5. Disconnect the outside door handle rod (1) from door latch by opening the clip (2).

    6. Object Number: 442401 Size: SH
  6. Remove the door latch fasteners.
  7. Remove the door latch (1) with the inside door handle latch and lock rods attached.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  9. Remove the handle and lock rods from the door latch.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 442401 Size: SH
  1. Install the inside door handle and lock rods to the door latch (1).
  2. Install the electrical connectors.
  3. Install the door latch (1), with inside door handle latch and lock rods attached, into the door.

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the door latch fasteners.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners in sequence to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    4.1. Start the upper fastener, (do not drive to torque).
    4.2. Drive the lower fastener to torque.
    4.3. Drive the outboard fastener to torque
    4.4. Drive the upper fastener to torque.

  5. Connect the outside door handle latch rod to the door latch.
    6. 5.1. Insert the rod (1) into the clip (2) on the door latch assembly.
    5.2. Close the clip.
  6. Install the inside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .

    7. Important: Check for the proper operation of the door handles before installing the water deflector and door trim panel.

  7. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  8. Install the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  9. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
