Luggage Compartment Description and Operation general
The rear compartment will release when the rear compartment
lid release switch is operated. The rear compartment lid release system contains
the following components:
• | Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM) |
• | Rear Integration Module (RIM) |
• | Rear Compartment Lid Release Actuator |
• | Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch |
When the rear compartment lid release switch is operated a switch input
is provided to the IPM. The IPM will send a trunk release on message to the
RIM. The rim will ground the TRK/REL relay and provide battery voltage to
the rear compartment lid release actuator. The rear compartment will then
release. When the rear compartment lid release actuator is operated it also
grounds the trunk ajar input in the RIM.
Luggage Compartment Description and Operation ajar indicator
Trunk Ajar Indicator(s)
TRUNK AJAR (with Systems Monitor)
The IPC illuminates the TRUNK AJAR indicator in the systems monitor
when the following occurs:
• | The rear integration module (RIM) detects that the trunk is open
or ajar (signal circuit is low). The IPC receives a class 2 message
from the RIM indicating that the trunk ajar switch is active. The IPC sends
a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning. |
• | The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition
cycle. The indicator illuminates for approximately 5 seconds. |
TRUNK AJAR - 24 (with DIC)
The IPC illuminates the TRUNK AJAR - 24 indicator
and illuminates the trunk symbol in the vehicle outline in the DIC when the
rear integration module (RIM) detects that the trunk is open or ajar (signal
circuit is low). The IPC receives a class 2 message from the RIM
indicating that the trunk ajar switch is active. The IPC sends a class 2
message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.
