Engine Coolant Fan Motor Replacement L36

1. Remove the electric cooling fan. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .




Important: The fan blade retaining nut is left hand thread.

2. Remove the fan blade retaining nut (5) from the electric cooling fan motors (2).
3. Remove the fan blade (4) from the motor shaft.
4. Remove the cooling fan motor retaining screws (3).
5. Remove the cooling fan motor (2) from the shroud (1).

1. Install the cooling fan motor (2) to the shroud (1).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the cooling fan motor retaining bolts (3).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

3. Install the cooling fan blade (4) to the motor shaft.

Important: The fan blade retaining nut is left hand thread.

4. Install the cooling fan retaining nut (5) to the motors (2).

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

5. Install the electric cooling fan. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .

1. Remove the cooling fan assembly. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .




Important: The fan blade retaining nut is left hand thread, damage may occur to motor threads if attempting to remove as a right hand thread nut.

2. Remove the fan blade retaining nut (5) from the cooling fan motor (2).
3. Remove the fan blade (4) from the cooling fan motor shaft.
4. Remove the cooling fan motor retaining screws (3).
5. Remove the cooling fan motor (2) from the shroud (1).

1. Install the motor (2) to the shroud (1).

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

3. Install the fan blade (4) to the motor shaft.
4. Install the fan blade retaining nut (5) to the motor (2).

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

5. Install the cooling fan assembly. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
