Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  2. Remove the front exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  3. Object Number: 551033  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the engine oil level sensor (1).
  5. Remove the engine oil level sensor (1) from the oil pan.

  6. Object Number: 204583  Size: SH
  7. Remove the oil pan bolts.
  8. Important: The oil pan gasket is reusable unless damaged. Do not remove the gasket from the oil pan groove unless replacement is required.

  9. Remove the oil pan.
  10. Clean and inspect the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure

  1. If required, install a new oil pan seal using the following procedure:
  2. 1.1. Clean any residual oil from the seal groove.
    1.2. Work the seal into the pan groove in both directions around the pan.
  3. Position the oil pan to the crankcase.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the oil pan retaining bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in) in the sequence shown.

    Notice: Replacement components must be the correct part number for the application. Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque, which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components in order to avoid damage.

  7. Install the engine oil level sensor (1) into the oil pan.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil level sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the engine oil level sensor (1).
  10. Install the front exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  11. Fill the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  12. Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
