  1. Start the engine.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Engine Oil Life Remaining parameter in the powertrain control module (PCM) Engine 2 data list.

Does the Engine Oil Life Remaining parameter display less than the specified value?

  1. Reset the engine oil life. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Engine Oil Life Remaining parameter.

Does the Engine Oil Life Remaining parameter display the specified value?

  1. With a scan tool, observe the driver information center (DIC) Reset Button parameter in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) inputs data list.
  2. Press the DIC Reset Button.

Does the DIC Reset Button parameter display On?

Go to Driver Information Center (DIC) Switch Inoperative
