Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Insert a CD magazine with at least one audio CD into the CD changer.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn ON the radio.
  4. Attempt to play the CD in the CD changer.

Does the CD play without noise?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the CD changer.
  2. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the CD changer. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Remove the radio.
  2. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the radio. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the drain wire for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the audio common circuit for a short, high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the audio harness shield for damage.
