The IPC illuminates the km/h indicator when the IPC detects that metric units have been requested. The IPC monitors the signal circuit of the ENG/MET switch. The IPC sends a class 2 message indicating the requested units to the head up display (HUD).

LOW TRAC

LOW TRACTION: Refer to ABS Description and Operation in Antilock Brake Systems

MPH

The IPC illuminates the MPH indicator when the IPC detects that English units have been requested. The IPC monitors the signal circuit of the ENG/MET switch. The IPC sends a class 2 message indicating the requested units to the head up display (HUD).

ENGINE OIL CHANGE NOW 82

The IPC illuminates the ENGINE OIL CHANGE NOW message 82 in the driver information center (DIC) when the powertrain control module (PCM) determines that the engine oil life is 0 percent. The PCM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting illumination. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

ENGINE OIL CHANGE SOON 81

The IPC illuminates the ENGINE OIL CHANGE SOON message 81 in the driver information center (DIC) when the powertrain control module (PCM) determines that the engine oil life is less than 11 percent. The PCM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting illumination. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

OIL LEVEL LOW 36

The IPC illuminates the OIL LEVEL LOW message 36 in the driver information center (DIC) when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects low engine oil level, and the signal circuit is high. The PCM only monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch for a brief period when the key moves from ON to START. The IPC receives a class 2 message requesting illumination from the PCM.

CHECK GAGES

The head up display (HUD) illuminates the CHECK GAGES indicator. The HUD receives a message requesting illumination from the IPC. The HUD illuminates the CHECK GAGES indicator when the IPC illuminates any of the following indicators:

    • Charging system
    • Engine coolant temperature
        Low fuel
    • Low oil pressure.

DOOR AJAR

LOW FUEL

The IPC illuminates the CHECK GAGES LOW FUEL message 11 in the driver information center (DIC) when the IPC determines that the fuel level is less than a predetermined value. The IPC receives a class 2 message indicating the fuel level from the PCM.

LOW OIL PRESSURE

The IPC illuminates the CHECK GAGES OIL PRESSURE message 35 in the driver information center (DIC) when the PCM detects low engine oil pressure, and the signal circuit is low. The IPC receives a class 2 message requesting illumination from the PCM.
