Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Verify that the Power Seat Does Not Tilt Forward complaint is present.

Does the power seat system operate as described in the system description and operation?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Probe the front vertical motor up control circuit of the seat front vertical motor with a test lamp that is connected to ground.
  2. Operate the seat front vertical motor UP adjuster switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Probe the front vertical motor down control circuit of the seat front vertical motor with a test lamp that is connected to ground.
  2. Operate the seat front vertical motor DOWN adjuster switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the seat front vertical motor harness connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the front vertical motor up control circuit and the front vertical motor down control circuit of the motor harness connector.
  3. Operate the seat front vertical motor adjuster switch in the UP and DOWN directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

Test the seat front vertical motor up control circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 12

Test the seat front vertical motor down control circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the seat adjuster switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the seat front vertical motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the seat adjuster switch. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
