Driver or Passenger Seat Recliner Replacement Power

Removal Procedure

  1. Position the seat to the full forward position.
  2. Remove the seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket or Split Bench Seat Replacement .
  3. Remove the seat cushion. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the lumbar electrical connector.
  5. Remove the adjuster track covers. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover Replacement .
  6. Remove the seat back frame. Refer to Front Seat Back Frame Replacement .
  7. Remove the seat back recliner motor and sensor, if equipped. Refer to Front Seat Recliner Actuator Motor Replacement .

  9. Remove the fasteners securing the outboard seat adjuster track reinforcement bracket.
  10. Remove the outboard seat adjuster track reinforcement bracket.
  11. Remove the seat back recliner fasteners.
  12. Remove the recliner assemblies by sliding the recliners rearwards out of the seat adjuster tracks.

Installation Procedure

  1. Slide the recliner assemblies into the seat adjuster tracks.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the recliner fasteners.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the outboard seat adjuster track reinforcement bracket.
  6. Install the reinforcement bracket fasteners.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  8. Install the recliner motor and sensor if equipped. Refer to Front Seat Recliner Actuator Motor Replacement .
  9. Install the seat back frame. Refer to Front Seat Back Frame Replacement .
  10. Connect the lumbar electrical connector.
  11. Install the adjuster track covers. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover Replacement .
  12. Install the seat cushion. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  13. Install the seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket or Split Bench Seat Replacement .

Removal Procedure

  1. Position the seat to the full forward position.
  2. Remove the seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket or Split Bench Seat Replacement .
  3. Remove the seat cushion. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the lumbar electrical connector, if equipped.
  5. Remove the manual seat recliner handle.
  6. Remove the adjuster track covers. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover Replacement .
  7. Remove the seat back frame. Refer to Front Seat Back Frame Replacement .
  8. Remove the rivets securing the inner seat adjuster track cover.

  10. Remove the seat adjuster bracket reinforcement (4) fasteners.
  11. Remove the seat adjuster reinforcement bracket (4).
  12. Remove the fasteners securing the outboard seat adjuster track reinforcement bracket (3).
  13. Remove the outboard seat adjuster track reinforcement bracket (3).
  14. Remove the seat back recliner fasteners.
  15. Remove the recliner rod (2).
  16. Remove the seat back recliner assemblies (1) by sliding the recliners rearwards out of the seat adjuster tracks.

Installation Procedure

  1. Slide the recliner assemblies (1) into the seat adjuster tracks (5).
  2. Install the recliner rod (2).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the recliner fasteners.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  6. Install the seat adjuster reinforcement bracket (4).
  7. Install the seat adjuster reinforcement bracket fasteners.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  9. Install the outboard seat adjuster track reinforcement bracket (3).
  10. Install the reinforcement bracket fasteners.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  12. Install the seat back frame. Refer to Front Seat Back Frame Replacement .
  13. Connect the lumbar electrical connector, if equipped.
  14. Install the adjuster track covers. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover Replacement .
  15. Install the manual seat back recliner handle.
  16. Install the manual seat back recliner handle fastener.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  18. Install the seat cushion. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  19. Install the seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket or Split Bench Seat Replacement .
