1. Intermittent or constant 'deck ajar' light.
2. Rear compartment light always on. (These conditions cause battery drain).
Insufficient length of switch stem will not compensate for over-slam of the rear deck lid or minor adjustment of the rear compartment light/'ajar' switch.
If a vehicle has a bracket with a switch attaching hole size of 11.5mm (26/64 in.), then install 'Service Only' switch, P/N 20629923. If hole size is 9.0mm (23/64 in.); install the current production switch, P/N 20545277.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
