ACCELERATOR CABLE CONTACTING DECK LID - REPOSITION CABLE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1984 & 1985 Fiero -----------------

CONDITION:

---------- Some 1984 and 1985 Fieros may show accelerator cable making contact with the rear deck lid which may result in chafing of the cable and/or deck lid.

CAUSE:

------ The condition may be caused by the routing of the cable and the rocking motion of the engine.

CORRECTION:

----------- Reposition cable as follows:

(1) Install stud 25517778 (torgue stud to 27 N.m), bracket 10028646, and nut 11507036 (torque nut to 20 N.m).

(2) Remove cable retainer clip 10029079 and place clip onto the bracket.

(3) Install cable to run across the rocker cover as illustrated. Move cable clip grommet along cable so that cable can be retained in clip.
