LUGGAGE COVER PANEL INTERFERENCE/ RATTLE

1982 Firebirds with Option B48, Luggage Compartment Trim Panel, could have some interference with the rear compartment lamp lens.

One of the causes could be loose nuts that hold the cover to the floor pan. If these are tight and interference is still encountered, remove the four nuts holding the panel to the floor. Pull carpet loose and using a sharp knife cut the jute back about 1" (see Figure 1). Reinstall panel. This should allow the panel to clear the lamp lens.

If the compartment cover rattles, the lock striker on the inner part of the rear panel should be adjusted (see Figure 2) by loosening screws and adjusting either up or down.
