1982 FIREBIRD TURBO WHEELS NOT PROPERLY MACHINED

Some turbo wheels on 1982 Firebirds may not be machined properly and will not retain the wheel disc covers. If you encounter a car with this condition, use the following procedure to obtain new wheels:

1. Check the inside of the wheel to determine the vendor (there are two - Western and Modern). Also note size of wheel.

2. Contact your District Service Manager to order the wheels. They will be shipped to you directly from the vendor.

3. When the new wheels are received from the vendor and put on the car, return the original wheels directly to the vendor.

4. The dealer will be billed for any unreturned wheels and WARRANTY WILL NOT pay for wheels.

There have been some reports of cast aluminum wheels which leak. Should you have a porous cast aluminum wheel, it can be repaired using bulletin 80-T-70, titled "Cast Aluminum Wheel Porosity Repair."

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
