SOME EARLY BUILT FIREBIRDS MAY HAVE A HOOD WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO CLOSE. THE HOOD LOCK SUPPORT MAY BE BENT AND CAN BE REPLACED USING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE: 1.PAINT THE NEW HOOD LOCK SUPPORT (PART NUMBER 10017981) BODY COLOUR. 2.REMOVE THE OLD HOOD LOCK SUPPORT (SEE FIGURE 1). 3.STRAIGHTEN ANY ATTACHING METAL THAT IS BENT. 4.CHECK FOR PROPER HOOD ALIGNMENT. REALIGN HOOD IF NECESSARY. 5.INSTALL THE HOOD LOCK SUPPORT, TIGHTENING THE ATTACHING BOLTS FINGER TIGHT. 6.PUSH DOWN ON THE HOOD, HOLDING THE HOOD CLOSED WHILE PULLING THE RELEASE LEVER. THIS ALIGNS THE LATCH ASSEMBLY. 7.ALLOW THE HOOD TO OPEN AND TIGHTEN THE LATCH BOLTS.
