NO 2ND,4TH, OR REVERSE GEAR SUN GEAR SHELL/HUB BROKEN

WHEN SERVICING ANY THM 700-R4 TRANSMISSION FOR A CONDITION OF NO 2ND, 4TH, OR REVERSE GEARS, INSPECT THE REACTION SUN GEAR SHELL FOR A POSSIBLE BROKEN HUB OR STRIPPED SPLINE. SEE FIGURE 1. IF THE REACTION SUN GEAR SHELL HUB OR SPLINE AREA IS BROKEN OR STRIPPED, REPLACE THE SUN GEAR SHELL WITH PART NUMBER 8642203. ALSO, DURING REASSEMBLY BE CERTAIN THE REACTION SUN GEAR SNAP RING IS PROPERLY LOCATED AND THE TRANSMISSION END PLAY IS CORRECT. (SEE ILLUSTRATION)
