The 1984 15th anniversary Trans Am's are equipped with P245/50VR16 tires. The following precautions must be observed because the front and rear wheels have different offsets and the P245/50VR16 tire is directional. Wheels and tire assemblies cannot be rotated in the conventional way. In the event that tire rotation is required, tires must be dismounted from the wheels and switched back to front, maintaining the directional rotation of each tire. Tire chains should not be used because they may cause damage. Automatic car wash facilities should not be used unless the car wash wheel guide track exceeds 10-1/2 inches in width. The same applies to 1985 Trans Am with Hi-Tech turbo wheels.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
