INOP INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS GROUNDED RADIO LIGHT BULB

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985 Vehicles Equipped with UX1 and UT4 Radios

Condition:

Some 1985 vehicles equipped with AM/FM stereo with seek/scan, cassette, and graphic equalizer (UX1 and UT4) may experience a loss of the instrument panel lights when the light switch is turned on.

Cause:

The condition way be the result of the right hand I.P. radio mounting bracket anti-rotation tab contacting the radio lighting bulb inside the radio.

Correction:

Resove the right hand radio bracket and remove enough material from the tab such that only 1.6mm (.050 inch) material remains on the tab (see illustration).
