VEHICLE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM REPAIR DIAGNOSIS

Models Affected: 1988 FIREBIRD GTA EQUIPPED WITH VATS

VATS COMPONENT LOCATION CHANGE

The 1988 Firebird Service Manual indicates incorrect locations for the following components:

1. VATS Anti-Theft Decoder Module 2. Starter Interupt Relay

The Anti-Theft relay is located on the heater duct near the center of the instrument panel.

R2980 Starter Interrupt Relay - Replace 0.6 Hours

E7200 Ignition Lock Cylinder - Replace 0.9 Hours
