SUBJECT: WARRANTY CLAIMS ON 1991 FIREBIRD FORMULA FIREHAWK BY SLP

This bulletin cancels and replaces bulletin 91-WA-10 issued 6/91. This bulletin is being revised to eliminate some items on the Firehawk which are not original equipment and add Induction System.

In April, 1991, Pontiac dealers were advised of the availability of the Formula Firehawk from Street Legal Performance (SLP) Inc. Due to the extensive modification of the Formula Firebird, special handling of warranty claims will be necessary.

Consideration must be given for warranty claims on any unaltered portion of the vehicle. If, after investigation, it is determined that the repair is the responsibility of Pontiac division, an appropriate ZONE approval must be obtained prior to submission of a warranty claim. Any claim submitted without ZONE approval will be rejected to the dealer with error Code 12 "Warranty Void On Vehicle".

SLP Inc. provides warranty coverage for all components altered or installed as part of the Firehawk conversion as well as specific vehicle labels and owner information. Questions regarding warranty coverage by SLP may be directed to 908-240-3696.

For your convenience, listed below are those items on the Formula Firehawk which are not original equipment.

Engine Assembly Exhaust System Transmission & Clutch Drive Shaft and Rear Axle Induction System Modification TO Relocate Battery Tire Wheels

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
